During her career Tess has been an active member of the Association of Pharmacy Technicians UK. She has held the posts as Education Officer (2004) and Vice President (2011) before being elected as President in June 2014. In her role as President she leads the Board of Directors and the Professional Committee in setting the strategic direction of the association. She is also responsible for the overall organisation and management of the Association. Representing pharmacy technicians, to name a few, she sits on the Rebalancing Medicines Legislation and Pharmacy Regulation Programme Board, Centre for Pharmacy Postgraduate Education Executive Operational Board, General Pharmaceutical Council Continuing Fitness to Practise Advisory Group, Summary Care Records Stakeholder Group, Pharmacy Public Health Forum and the Keeping People Well and Stable Work Stream: Pharmacy Reference Group. She was also part of the Clinical Community Pharmacy review ‘Murray Report’.
Tess began her career as a pharmacy technician in 1970 and has worked in a variety of pharmacy sectors; hospital, academia, community, primary care during her career. She has led on pharmacy technician & support staff development, CPD and quality assurance of vocational qualifications provision in recent posts. Tess is also a Pharmacy Services External Quality Assurer & the Technical External Quality Assurer for City & Guilds inspecting and advising on the quality assurance, delivery and development for pharmacy. Tess is also the secretary for the European Association of Pharmacy Technicians.
