DESCRIPTION:Pharmacy professionals are invited to join this important webinar with senior leaders from the Royal Pharmaceutical Society, the Association of Pharmacy Technicians UK and NHS England and NHS Improvement Tuesday July 6th 2021 7-8:30pm.\n\n \n\nWebinar Registration Link: https://events.rpharms.com/6July2021/\n\n \n\nDiversity and Representation in the Leadership of the Pharmacy Professions\n\nTuesday 6 July 2021, 19.00-20.30\n\nAgenda available here\n\n \n\nPharmacy professionals are invited to join this important webinar with senior leaders from the Royal Pharmaceutical Society, the Association of Pharmacy Technicians UK and NHS England and NHS Improvement:\n\nPaul Bennett, Chief Executive, RPSRichard Cattell, Deputy Chief Pharmaceutical Officer, NHSE&ILiz Fidler, President, APTUKDr Bola Owolabi, National Director for Health Inequalities, NHSE&IDr Keith Ridge CBE, Chief Pharmaceutical Officer, NHSE&ISpeakers will share their progress, challenges and learning about increasing diversity and representation in the leadership of the pharmacy professions; how this impacts on the quality of patient care; and how we can all work together to remove barriers and make a meaningful difference.\n\nThe discussion will focus on:\n\nHow to make a meaningful difference?What could be the drivers to make things better across different settings?Since publication of the Joint National Plan for Inclusive Pharmacy Practice, on 10 March 2021, pharmacy professionals have been working to implement Theme 1 on Leadership and Representation which states:\n\nAs part of our professional responsibilities, pharmacy professionals at all levels and in all care settings should proactively ensure there is no tolerance of racism and racial discrimination in the workplace; and work to improve fairness and equity in recruitment, promotion, leadership diversity, disciplinary and governance practices, in line with NHS People Plan goals.Pharmacy professional leaders at all levels in all care settings should:\n\nWhere appropriate, embrace authentic allyship to improve their engagement with equality, diversity and inclusion;Develop a better understanding and appreciation of the benefits that ethnically diverse teams can bring to organisations including the better potential to deliver more culturally competent and aware healthcare;Proactively ensure the voices of colleagues of Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic origin are heard, valued, included as equal and considered when decisions are being taken in meetings, networks, committees and boards;Empower pharmacy team members to participate in inclusive networks and groups internally and externally.
