APTUK Professional Practice Hubs

Welcome to the APTUK Professional Practice Hubs!

APTUK offers all members exclusive access to their hub network throughout the UK. This provides a unique opportunity to meet other APTUK members, working in a variety of settings, to build professional relationships and enhance professional development together. Additionally, APTUK professional practice hubs offer updates on relevant national and strategic issues impacting on the profession, whilst sharing exciting opportunities both locally and nationally.

There are a variety of hubs. Some are arranged by region and others focus on speciality topics such as technical, aseptic services and are managed by a committee of pharmacy technician volunteers, who dedicate their time to APTUK members and the profession.

As a hub member, you have exclusive access to meetings, presentations, and webinars on relevant topics delivered virtually via Teams or Zoom. Providing professional information that is interesting, novel, and often boundary defying.  Pharmacy technicians are encouraged to share their experience, expertise, and knowledge in an open, friendly, welcoming space. Hub social events are also hosted, supporting wellbeing and networking.

By joining a hub or attending a meeting you have the opportunity to share your views and contribute your experience to a range of national healthcare consultations and campaigns. All this vital work helps to shape the future for pharmacy technicians, patients, and the public alike.

Please join your regional or speciality hub by contacting them directly or alternatively contact branchliaison@aptuk.org who will direct you to your local meeting.

APTUK Pride Hub

The APTUK Pride hub was founded in October 2024 by Sarah Sharman and Jason Benning with the sole aim of creating an inclusive space for LGBTQ+ Pharmacy Technicians in the UK.

Since its creation the APTUK Pride hub has developed its aims to be:

  • To create, co-develop and deliver LGBTQ+ awareness sessions for pharmacy technicians and pre-registration trainee pharmacy technicians (PTPTs) in the UK
  • To provide a safe space and platform for LGBTQ+ pharmacy technicians & PTPTs to share lived experiences and develop leadership skills
  • To promote and demonstrate the significant value that LGBTQ+ allyship holds for pharmacy service users and staff

The APTUK Pride hub has delivered awareness sessions on Trans inclusive healthcare, LGBTQ+ Health Inequalities, Unconscious Bias, HIV awareness, Fitness and Lifestyle, Sexual Health, Inclusive consultation skills and many more.

In June 2026, we launched PPILLS (Pharmacy Pride, Inclusive Leadership and Learning Series) the largest webinar series of its kind to date. The response to this event was overwhelmingly positive and has cemented the APTUK Pride hub's commitment to building lasting partnerships outside of the pharmacy sphere and 'raising the bar' when it comes to the achievement potential of pharmacy technicians.

  • Would you like to be a part of a fast-paced, innovative, and inclusive APTUK Hub?
  • Are you part of the LGBTQ+ community or want to be a role-model ally?
  • Do you want to help create and deliver meaningful education, training, and awareness sessions for your peers?

If the answer is 'Yes' to any of the above, send an email to pridebranch@aptuk.org and we'll be in touch

The Technical Services Hub was originally set up in 2019 to connect pharmacy technicians within this sector from across the country. Due to the span of Technical Services Units, it was the first branch to 'go virtual'.

We aim to hold meetings which are educational, showcase areas of innovation or simply connect pharmacy technicians with others in the same area to support networking within this area of pharmacy.

We welcome members from all areas of pharmacy though - so if a topic seems interesting to you, please join us!
