General practice workforce engagement

Can you help HEE identify ways to make primary care a great place to work?

Share your views to help HEE identify ways to make primary care a great place to work.

NHS England has in place a range of measures aimed at supporting the general practice workforce that have been introduced over time. These include:

  • GP recruitment and retention schemes
  • The introduction of new patient facing roles in General Practice
  • Increased provision of health and wellbeing initiatives

Health Education England (HEE) want to understand the impact existing approaches to recruitment and retention have had, to develop future proposals for support for people working in general practice. This includes improving understanding of the experience of people with protected characteristics and the seldom heard, so they can identify any disparities in experience and any adjustments required to meet their needs.

The people who work in general practice know what is needed, so HEE want to hear your views.

There are several ways to get involved, including:

The survey and focus groups are the start of a programme to identify further options to make primary care a great place to work.

There will be further opportunities in the new year for people working in primary care to share their views and experience including a pilot of the national staff survey within PCNs and practices being run within a small number of systems to test the approach for an eventual national roll out across primary care, as part of the existing NHS National Staff Survey.

We hope that you are able to take part and can help HEE understand the views of the people working in primary care.
