APTUK shares statement on the opening of the Royal College of Pharmacy

APTUK warmly welcomes and congratulates the opening of the Royal College of Pharmacy.

The 15th of April 2026 represents a once-in-a-lifetime moment for the pharmacy profession, a defining milestone that recognises the expertise, leadership and evolving role of pharmacy professionals.

The establishment of the Royal College of Pharmacy is a powerful statement of intent. It affirms the profession’s commitment to excellence in practice, education, research and patient care, while providing a unified professional home that champions the voice of pharmacy at the highest level. This moment reflects years of dedication, collaboration and vision from across the sector, and it sets a strong foundation for the future.

APTUK looks forward continuing to work collaboratively with the Royal College of Pharmacy to shape a future that is inclusive, progressive and ambitious. Together, we can support the development of our workforce, drive improvements in patient outcomes, and ensure pharmacy continues to thrive at the heart of the healthcare system. The Royal College brings opportunity for meaningful inclusion for pharmacy technicians. It is a chance to ensure that every member of the pharmacy workforce is recognised, valued and enabled to contribute fully to safe, effective and innovative patient care.

Today we celebrate not just the opening of the Royal College but the collective ambition of a profession ready to lead, to innovate, and to make a lasting difference for the patients and communities we serve.

Congratulations to our Royal College colleagues on this historic and inspiring achievement.
